Learning Resources

The learning resource center has been improved to make it a better place for students to read and study. Lower shelving and books organised in a way to make it easier to use mean that the space is now more student friendly. New computers allow students to use online resources to complement research when in the LRC.

We are constantly adapting the resources available to provide focused collections, including sections on graphic novels, audio books and magazines covering a wide range of interests. An extensive range of titles are also available in Arabic.

A computerised library management system is used for managing book circulation and to provide reports on reading trends. Students and staff can search the collection, manage their loans, reserve items and write book reviews from anywhere on the school network.

IMG 0232The LRC plays a key role in supporting teaching and learning as well as holding events to encourage reading, research and independent learning.

RSB subscribes to Britannica School which is a great resource for access to trusted content and invaluable for research and project work. Students will need to log in to Britannica and can access either in school or remotely.

Students and staff can log in to Britannica School here.

Meet the Learning Resource Centre Coordinator, Ms Gilzean.

I am a qualified librarian and have worked at Rashid School for over five years. I have a wide experience of working in different sectors including public, further education and school libraries.
My specific interests are all aspects of information literacy and retrieval along with my passion for encouraging students to read for pleasure. My belief is that the learning resource centre should be the hub of any school for research, study and reading for pleasure.
