Computing Department

Adrian Keech Comp

Every student in years 7 to 9 receives one lesson of Computing per week. Students in years 10 to 12 have the option to choose a course in either computer science or in creative digital applications.

Students learn how to:

  • Select, use, and combine information and assets from multiple applications, across a range of devices, to achieve challenging goals and to meet the needs of known users
  • Gather, collate and search large sets of data, performing complex queries
  • Become proficient at computational thinking, adapting and using algorithms to solve computational problems
  • Become safe and responsible users of information technology

Technologies used include:

  • Computer programming in Scratch and Python
  • Using flowcharts to control automated systems
  • Data handling using spreadsheet and database software
  • Creating multimedia solutions using web-publishing, image processing, film-making and animation techniques.

We endeavour to make the subject relevant and interesting with emphasis on project and practical work where possible. Many topics relate to events taking place in school or around the UAE.
